For the past 3.5 years, we’ve been developing a solution to one of the biggest challenges in the Toyota IFS world: clearing big tires without hacking half your truck apart. Today, we’re proud to release our Lower Control Arm Relocation Kit—a simple, low-cost system that provides dramatic improvements in tire clearance, approach angle, alignment reliability, and front-end strength. With this kit installed, you can run 35s, 37s, or even larger with a fraction of the rubbing and cutting normally required.

 

By moving your lower control arms forward a full 1.5 inches (adjustable in ¼” increments), this system shifts your entire tire travel path away from the firewall and body mount. The result is astonishingly improved tire clearance—enough that 35s can fit without touching your body mount or firewall as long as you don’t go too aggressive with wheel offset. 37” tires require only a basic body-mount chop and cutting off the pinch weld. For anyone who has tubbed a firewall before, the difference is night and day. Instead of tearing into the cab, relocating wiring, welding new sheet metal, and losing footwell space, this kit places the tires where they should be and eliminates all of that. You will still need to clearance the top and front areas of your fenders and wheel wells – however the firewall and body mount modifications are massively reduced.  

 

Approach angle also sees a massive upgrade. Moving the axle line forward by 1.5" gives you the same front-tire leading edge as jumping from a 35" to a 38" tire—without the cost, weight, or drivetrain strain of actually upsizing. Paired with a high-clearance bumper, your front end begins crawling obstacles significantly sooner and with far less effort, all while allowing you to maintain a lower, more stable suspension height.

 

Beyond clearance, this system solves two of the Toyota IFS platform’s biggest reliability issues: bent alignment cam tabs and seized factory cam bolts. The factory setup is notoriously weak—cam tabs fold over on the trail, alignment cams rust and seize into the control arm sleeves, and many owners end up cutting out hardware just to get their truck aligned after new suspension. Our kit replaces all of that. In its place is a proprietary ¼"-steel cam system that is nearly indestructible and keeps your alignment locked in no matter how hard you wheel.

Strength is a major part of this system. The factory lower control arm mounts are thin, exposed, and easily damaged on technical trails. Our relocation brackets are built from ¼" steel and feature heavy gusseting, additional tie-ins, and reinforcement that transforms this weak point into a true structural component of the frame. During three and a half years of testing—including running  Trepador bias-ply tires on beadlock wheels (125lbs per corner!)—we broke virtually every other part of the front end (CVs, tie rods, racks, diff, spindle…) but never the LCA mounts or alignment system. Alignment has remained true the entire time.

Installation is far easier than it looks. With the included jigging spacers and step-by-step instructions, this kit can be installed at home with a basic welder and angle grinder. Only the CV axle and lower control arm need to be removed; the steering, coilovers, UCA, brakes, and spindle can all stay on the truck. It also requires the least cutting of any solution on the market—only the front factory LCA tabs are removed. The rear tabs remain and serve as structural reference points.

 

And another unexpected benefit of this system: no need for aftermarket UCAs for caster correction. By moving the lower arm forward, caster naturally increases and allows you to achieve great alignment specs with a lifted truck. That means improved road manners, stronger return-to-center, and high-speed stability that lifted Toyotas on big tires rarely experience. And our alignment cams work exactly the same as the factory cams, so any alignment shop can align the truck exactly the same way they would using factory cams.

 

This system is compatible with factory, mid-travel, and long-travel control arms as well as most aftermarket skids. It is compatible with the factory skid plates with very minor trimming of the skid plate. One note is that some coilovers with a larger diameter near the bottom mount may interfere with the swaybar in the full +1.5” position. In this case, you may need to run this system in the +1.25 or +1.0” position instead. Sway-bar relocation brackets are included.
