This is a high clearance DIY weld-together winch bumper kit for the 6th Gen Corolla All Trac AE95. It fits 1988-1994 models and features a bolt-on design, protected winch mount, and an excellent approach angle. This bumper allows you to forget about approach angle and substantially improves the offroad capability of your Corolla! It offers excellent protection from rocks, trees and animal strikes and has been kept to a weight of 45.5lbs through careful design work. Absolutely no modification of the vehicle chassis is required and the vehicle can be easily returned back to stock if desired.
Due to the unibody construction of the AE95 Corolla, there is not a lot to mount a winch bumper capable of pulling the entire weight of the vehicle. This makes the mounting system of the bumper especially critical. If a thick steel bumper is poorly mounted to the vehicle unibody, no matter how strong the bumper is, it will simply punch through the unibody mounting points should an impact occur. So, our engineers came up with a mounting system that distributes impact and winching forces evenly across your unibody frame. As far as we know, this is by far the most serious winch bumper mounting system available for the 6th gen Corolla and will ensure that you can rely on this bumper when you need it most.
The profile of this bumper has been designed with maximum ground clearance and approach angles put first. The bumper sits as high and tight to the front of the AE95 Corolla as possible, while the angled lower faces will smoothly slide over obstacles and ensure you do not get hung up on the trail. The side wings of this bumper wrap around to the front wheel wells and tie directly into the main mounting plates for true offroad protection. These side wings will take a serious hit without flexing or deflecting into the vehicle body. We know that most AE95 owners want to run oversized tires and more aggressive wheel offsets. This can create interference issues with the stock front bumper. We have thought ahead and designed these bumper side wings to easily clear 30"+ tires.
We finished this bumper off with integrated light buckets for surface mount LED pod lights (custom light cut outs available by request), an integrated winch mount to accept a 4500lb atv/utv winch (4.88x3" bolt pattern), and heavy duty 9/16" thick recovery points. These recover points are placed directly in line with the main mounting points of the Corolla unibody to eliminate any leveraging effects. They are formed by laser cut steel plates that pass through the bumper shell and bolt directly to the Corolla chassis as part of the bumper's main mounting brackets. The recovery points then get welded to the in and outside of the bumper shell. These factors all combine to form recovery points that minimize stress on your Corolla's chassis and are essentially indestructible! Yes its overkill for the weight of the Corolla, but we wanted to keep in mind that most other offroad rigs you encounter on the trail are heavier than you are. And if you need to pull someone else out, the last thing you want is sub-par recovery points that will fail under the weight of a stuck SUV or truck.
What could make this bumper even better? The low profile design has resulted in very reasonable weights of 45.5lbs for the steel bumper and 24.3lbs for the aluminum version. Considering that this bumper replaces your factory bumper and associated components, the resulting weight increase to your Corolla is actually quite minimal. This minimizes added stress on your vehicle, maintains precious payload capacity, and allows you to keep your factory suspension if desired - no need to go stiffer.
