This is our low profile winch mount for the pre-facelift 5th generation (2010-2013) Toyota 4Runner. Unlike most of our products which are DIY kits, this winch mount ships to you already welded and powder coated - simply bolt it onto your 4Runner using the provided hardware. It replaces the lower center section of the factory bumper, providing a winch mount AND a recessed 2" hitch receiver while still maintaining a nearly stock appearance. The low weight compared to a full fender to fender bumper greatly reduces the effect on your 4Runner's suspension and handling. It also features a series of mounting holes on top that allow you to run a 20" lightbar or a row of LED pod lights, either behind the factory mesh section or by removing the mesh. It offers a nice gain in protection from trail obstacles and distracted drivers and has been kept to a weight of 52.4lbs through careful design work. Since this winch mount replaces some factory components, the resulting weight addition to your 4Runner is less than 35lbs - meaning no noticeable affect on your suspension height or ride quality!
As for the design of this winch mount, we wanted to do something totally different than what's already out there. Many other winch mounts or 'lo-pro' bumpers as they are often referred to have protruding recovery points and take up a much larger portion of the height of the 4Runner front end. These can often end up looking like a thoughtless wall of steel that doesn't compliment the lines of the 4Runner bumper at all. Our winch mount uses a series of small, intricately folded faces that contour perfectly to the factory bumper. We produce this in-house with pride and feel that this gives it a very seamless look that could easily pass for OEM. When it comes to the recovery points, we also don't like it when winch mounts have lugs that stick out from the rest of the structure. They break up the lines of the bumper and more importantly, become hang-up points when out on the trail. Our winch mount has no sharp protrusions and will easily slide up trail obstacles should contact occur. Instead, we added a recessed 2" hitch receiver with an included bolt-in cover plate for a seamless appearance when not in use. This hitch receiver serves as the recovery point while also opening up the door to mount whatever hitch-mounted accessory to suit your adventure.
At the end of the day, we are all about packing as much functionality as possible into everything we build. With this bumper, you get a winch mount, 2" hitch receiver, and multiple positions for mounting lights - all while maintaining a clean OEM appearance.
To make install easy, this winch mount ships with clear and detailed step by step directions that are accompanied by tons of diagrams and pictures. The install is so simple that the factory plastic bumper does not even need to be removed! Simply trim your factory bumper plastic following the body lines illustrated in the instructions, unbolt the aluminum frame bar, and then bolt up your new winch mount. All of this is done with the factory bumper still in place. This makes life easy for an at-home install. Or If you are paying to have the winch mount installed by a shop, this significantly lowers the install cost.
